  • Pelican Patient Slide Sheet

    Novis Patient Slide Sheet 1.5m x 2m

The Bed Slide Sheet is an essential manual handling product. The slippery material can be used in a number of ways to help move patients in bed. The edges are heat sealed to help prevent fraying, meaning no sewn hems which may compromise skin integrity. Use: Fold the sheet in half and roll it under a patient, similar to fitting a draw sheet. When moving the patient, gather up the loose end of the top part of the sheet and use body weight to turn the patient. Do not use excessive movements with your arms. We generally recommend using the Bed Slide Sheets folded in half. The Carers use their own body weight to move patients, not just relying on the Carer’s muscle power. Practise with work colleagues to become proficient before using with patients. The Bed Slide Sheet may appear to have less ‘slip’ as it wears. If you find this, try spraying both surfaces with a food grade silicone spray. Spray outside over grass, so the over-spray does not make any walkways slippery. The International Standard for Manual Handling is ISO/TR 12296:2012 – Ergonomics – Manual handling of people in the healthcare sector. The Standard states that a roll or sliding sheet and an electric height-adjustable bed must be used.

    Better Living Bed Ladder Strap

The Patient Handling Bed Ladder Strap is a strong band of webbing with four equidistant handholds along its length, designed to assist patients in sitting up independently. It serves as a safe and cost-effective alternative to monkey bars. The strap is crafted with loops attached to the main webbing using rectangular and diagonal stitching, with all ends sewn under to provide a smooth and comfortable handling surface. Attach the strap to the end of the patient's bed by looping it around the bed frame several times before securing it and laying it along the length of the bed within reach of the patient and securing it again at the foot end. Alternatively, the strap can be wrapped around one of the bed legs and positioned slightly diagonally on the bed. The handholds on the strap allow the patient to assist in transferring from a supine to a sitting position.
